The Laurenskwartier
De Witte Keizer (The White Emperor) was built at the corner of Keizerstraat and Vissersdijk in the middle of the Laurenskwartier. In recent years, the Laurenskwartier has developed into the most sought-after and exciting residential districts of Rotterdam, and it will become livelier yet with the arrival of new exclusive retail outlets, restaurants, cafés, etc. Even now, there are plenty of amenities. From shops to nightspots, from the market to a fitness centre: everything is literally right around the corner.
Lots of amenities
If you love shopping and having a night out, the city centre is the place to be. For cultural amenities visit the interesting galleries on Witte de Withstraat, a range of museums or the Luxor Theatre. De Meent is nearby for eating out. For outdoor leisure, step out the door for a nice walk or a bike ride in Het Park, or relax on the banks of the River Maas. And everyday shopping is a breeze with the market and a supermarket nearby.
Historic features
The Laurenskwartier is also the historic heart of Rotterdam. Its pre-war architecture adds to the district’s cultural and historic value. At just a stone’s throw from De Witte Keijzer, for example, is the historic Laurenskerk (St. Laurence Church). This district really has something for everyone.
